Into the Wild (Beyond the merillian book 1) by Courtney leigh (Fantasy romance novella)

There’s a wall between the Merillian and the Wilds, dividing two societies that nearly wiped each other out in the biggest race war of all time. Beyond the wall, there’s nothing but danger and the elves that almost destroyed mankind. I never wished to cross that threshold until my marriage to a cruel man forced me to do the unthinkable. Now I’m on the run for murder and the only place I know my past won’t follow is into the wilderness all humans fear.

I don't know what I thought would happen when I crossed the wall. I was hoping to never cross paths with an elf only to be thrown over the shoulder of one. Theoden, however, isn’t one of the savages from the stories. He’s as powerful as he is beautiful and despite his hatred for humans, he swears never to hurt me. We’ll see.

I want to start over, but it turns out that my past did follow me and it has many faces. Now my new life is under threat and my growing love for a man who might not be able to accept me is making me question where I really belong.

Among the frost (Beyond the merillian book 2) by Courtney leigh (Fantasy shifter romance novella)

There’s a wall between the Merillian and the Wilds, dividing two societies that nearly wiped each other out in the biggest race war of all time. Beyond the wall, there’s only the Wilds and the elves that almost destroyed mankind. Leaving the Merillian has been a dream. One I never thought would become reality.

Being born with two different colored eyes got my mother executed for witchery and now I’m a slave to my own family and an outcast to my people. I wish for freedom every day, but when my sister gets married off to a warlord and I’m forced to travel with her to her new home across a snowy wilderness, freedom seems far out of reach.

Klains, a pale-haired elf clan high in the mountains, dominate the untamed country and it doesn’t take long for one of them to cross our path, but she’s just a little girl. Humans and elves have been enemies for generations. I know all too well what her fate will be without my help, but in freeing her, I’ve condemned myself to death. A death I would have met if not for the girl's brother.

Now I’m free, but have nowhere to go unless Roan agrees to take me as his own. I fear I’m not what he wants. If my own people couldn’t accept me, how can he?

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This series is a great little read. I love stand alone romances and get burned out on a series 5 books long before the couple finally get together. I'm looking forward to more of these elves.

Off the path (Beyond the merillian book 3) by Courtney leigh (Fantasy romance novella)3.jpg

There’s a wall between the Merillian and the Wilds, dividing two societies that nearly wiped each other out in the biggest race war of all time. Beyond the wall, there’s only the wilderness and the elves that almost destroyed mankind. But none of that matters because I'm off to marry the man of my dreams.

I was, anyways, until we ventured down the wrong road and were attacked by thieves. And not just any thieves. Elves. They'd gotten inside the wall and they wanted something. A metal that all my family jewelry just happens to be made out of. Now, to get their hands on more, one of the elven brutes has kidnapped me for ransom. He's handsome and doesn't have claws like the stories say, but he's still a savage. I'm the daughter of a count though, and Taegen doesn't know what he's in for when he takes me across the wall.

I thought I had things under control. I thought I'd be the most annoying prisoner until my father shelled out the jewelry to buy me back. Only none of my plans panned out and Taegen's stupid, charming smile and his smooth words are making me realize how empty my life was before he took me from it. Maybe what I really need is a bit of danger.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ So far I have not come across a single book from this author that I have not loved!

hard as steel (Beyond the merillian book 4) by Courtney leigh (Fantasy romance novella)

There’s a wall between the Merillian and the Wilds, dividing two societies that nearly wiped each other out in the biggest race war of all time. Beyond the wall, there’s only the wilderness and the elves that almost destroyed mankind. Should I care? No. Because my sister is out there and I'm going to find her.

Sage is small and frail and too beautiful for her own good. Me? Things didn't come easy to me and I learned to get by. Which is why I'll do anything to get Sage back from the elves that took her. To do that, I need an elf of my own to get me where I want to go and what better way to get one than in the illegal fighting pits?

Tanyth is a beast. That much is certain. Dark gray skin. Hair like ash. Eyes like ice. And the first time I saw him, he was slaying a dozen men. In breaking his chains, I might have put myself in more danger than I expected.

But when have I ever shied away from danger?

If he discovers the lies I was forced to take part in, there's no telling what will happen to me. Especially when those lies almost got him killed on our first night as husband and wife.

When humans rose up against elves, war nearly destroyed both sides. We fought hard for the land that was ours and then the vermin who brought the slaughter on us built themselves a giant wall to keep us apart. They ran like little rats from something they started. And if that's the way they want it, then I'll kill every last human that sets foot on our land.

But I couldn't kill him. The crippled boy with fragile bones and a defiance in his eyes that you can only be born with. No, I didn't kill him. I did much worse. And when he escaped, I let him go, knowing he would die in the vicious Wilds.

I did not expect to regret it all in the end.

Twenty-five years later, my mistake walks back into my life. He's one of the biggest human men I've ever seen and he is no longer fragile and weak. No. He's a warrior, sworn to protect.

But he doesn't look at me with the desire to protect. Ryo looks at me with murder in his eyes. And if we weren't suddenly relying on each other to survive, I would be dead already.

UPCOMING RELEASE

There’s a wall between the Merillian and the Wilds, dividing two societies that nearly wiped each other out in the biggest race war of all time. Humans are so scared of what's outside, but what I fear is inside. Princes and love and heroes don't exist here like they do in stories.

I've been told I'm an abomination. A stain. A monster. Ugly. They tore me from my mother, cut off my ears, and put me underground to live out my days in the darkness. I'm not sure why they didn't kill me, but I might as well be dead.

I don't know how long it's been, but I imagine I'll die in this hole... until someone is thrown into the neighboring cell. Someone who fights back and shouts a lot. I should probably be afraid of him, but instead, I'm curious. I want to see him. His voice sounds nice enough. At least, when he isn't roaring profanities at the guards. Maybe we'll die here together.

But when a drunken guard tries to get handsy, my neighbor escapes. He comes to my cell and when there are no walls or bars between us, I know.

Heroes do exist. I know it because he's mine.

And we're leaving this place together.
